On Saaty's and Koczkodaj's inconsistencies of pairwise comparison matrices

چکیده
The aim of the paper is to obtain some theoretical and numerical properties of Saaty ’s and Koczkodaj ’s inconsistencies of pairwise comparison matrices (PRM ). In the case of 3 × 3 PRM, a differentiable one-to-one correspondence is given between Saaty ’s inconsistency ratio and Koczkodaj ’s inconsistency index based on the elements of PRM. In order to make a comparison of Saaty ’s and Koczkodaj ’s inconsistencies for 4 × 4 pairwise comparison matrices, the average value of the maximal eigenvalues of randomly generated n × n PRM is formulated, the elements aij (i < j) of which were randomly chosen from the ratio scale 1 M , 1 M − 1 , . . . , 1 2 , 1, 2, . . . , M − 1,M, with equal probability 1/(2M−1) and aji is defined as 1/aij . By statistical analysis, the empirical distributions of the maximal eigenvalues of the PRM depending on the dimension number are obtained. As the dimension number increases, the shape of distributions gets similar to that of the normal ones. Finally, the inconsistency of asymmetry is dealt with, showing a different type of inconsistency.

Deriving weights from general pairwise comparison matrices
The problem of deriving weights from pairwise comparison matrices has been treated extensively in the literature. Most of the results are devoted to the case when the matrix under consideration is reciprocally symmetric (i.e., the i, j-th element of the matrix is reciprocal to its j, i-th element for each i and j). However, there are some applications of the framework when the underlying matric...
متن کاملImproving the Ordinal Inconsistency of Pairwise Comparison Matrices
This paper investigates the effects of non-transitive judgments on the consistency of pairwise comparison matrices and proposes a heuristic algorithm for identifying and eliminating their ordinal inconsistencies. The algorithm is based on graphical representation of the comparison matrices and identifies the edges in the digraph, which are mostly responsible for three-way cycles, representing t...
متن کاملA Common Weight Multi-criteria Decision analysis-data Envelopment Analysis Approach with Assurance Region for Weight Derivation from Pairwise Comparison Matrices
Deriving weights from a pairwise comparison matrix (PCM) is a subject for which a wide range of methods have ever been presented. This paper proposes a common weight multi criteria decision analysis-data envelopment analysis (MCDA-DEA) approach with assurance region for weight derivation from a PCM. The proposed model has several merits over the competing approaches and removes the drawbacks of...
متن کاملImprecision of the elements of fuzzy eigenvectors of pairwise comparison matrices in fuzzy AHP
Fuzzy AHP is often used in multi-criteria decision analysis. In this paper we consider an example given by Deng [I] and in particular the method used to approximate the fuzzy principle eigenvector of the fuzzy pairwise comparison matrices. We show Nigel Steele Computational Intelligence Group, School of Mathematical and Information Sciences, Coventry University, Priory Street, Coventry. CV1 5FB...
متن کاملA loss function approach to group preference aggregation in the AHP
The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a useful method in aggregating group preference. We suggest a new method that uses consistency ratio as group evaluation quality. For this method, we introduce Taguchi's loss function. We also develop an evaluation reliability function to derive group weight. Lastly, we perform four experiments in order to confirm validity of this method. 1. Introduction ...
